How quickly can you respond to an emergency lockout?

Our average response time is 20–30 minutes across Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Outer suburbs can take a little longer, but we'll always give you an accurate ETA when you call.

Are your technicians licensed?

Yes. LockOps holds a current Queensland Security Provider Licence (No. 4512789, verifiable on the QLD Government register), and we carry public liability insurance up to $10M.

How much does a locksmith call-out cost?

Our callout is a flat $45, any hour of the day, weekends and public holidays included. On top of that, a standard non-destructive door opening starts from $80, rekeys from $15 per cylinder, lock replacement from $120, a new lock fitted from $160 and a smart lock from $180 (all GST inclusive). So a lockout starts from $125 all-in, and that's the same at 2am, weekends and public holidays — no after-hours loading. You get an estimate on the phone and the final price is confirmed on site before any work begins.

Do you work after hours and on weekends?

Absolutely. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including public holidays. Security emergencies don't keep office hours and neither do we.

What payment methods do you accept?

Card and contactless on every job, taken on site once the work is done. Bank transfer is available for account customers. We never require payment before the job is complete.

Can you rekey my locks without replacing them?

In most cases, yes. Rekeying is a cost-effective solution that changes the lock's internal mechanism so old keys no longer work, without needing to replace the entire lock.

Will you damage my door or lock to get me in?

Almost never. We use non-destructive entry first — picking, bypass or decoding — so your existing lock keeps working and you don't need a replacement. Drilling is a last resort, only with your OK, and usually only on high-security or damaged locks.

Do I need to prove I live here before you'll open the door?

Yes, and you should be wary of any locksmith who doesn't ask. Once we're in, we'll ask for photo ID with the address, or a lease, bill or something inside the property that confirms it's yours. It takes a minute and it's how we protect you as much as anyone else.

I've lost my keys, not just locked myself out — what happens?

We'll get you in first, then rekey the lock on the spot so the lost key no longer works. From $15 per cylinder, that's usually far cheaper than replacing the lock and means whoever finds your keys can't use them.

I'm renting — can you still change or rekey the locks?

Yes, with your lessor's or property manager's agreement, which most give readily. Email them first, then provide a copy of the new key once it's done. We're happy to cut extras on the job so you can hand one over the same day.

How do I know a locksmith is legitimate?

Ask for their Queensland Security Provider Licence number and check it on the QLD Government register before they start. Be cautious of anyone who won't give a price range on the phone, arrives in an unmarked car, or insists on drilling straight away. Our licence number is on this page and every technician carries ID.
