Why we publish our prices

Most Brisbane locksmith websites don't list prices.

Locksmith pricing is one of the easiest places to bait-and-switch a customer, and rogue operators rely on it. A $15 or $19 callout in a sponsored ad, then hundreds of dollars on the invoice once the lock is drilled.

We publish the numbers because it is the only way to make the difference visible. Every price on this page is a minimum starting price, confirmed with you on site before any work begins.

Pricing clarity

What can affect the final price

These are the only genuine factors. Each is explained and agreed on site before any additional work proceeds.

Extra parts or a second lock
Some jobs need additional hardware or a second cylinder. Any extra parts are explained and agreed on site before the work goes ahead.
Lock type or hardware
High-security, restricted or non-standard hardware can affect the price. Always explained and agreed before proceeding.
Door or frame damage
After a break-in the frame sometimes needs repair beyond the lock itself. Quoted separately and confirmed before starting.
Number of cylinders
Rekey pricing scales per cylinder. The total is confirmed on the call once you give us the count — no surprises on the invoice.
What does not change the price

Traffic, distance within our service area, parking, how busy we are, and the day or hour you call. None of these change the price. The estimate you get on the phone is confirmed on site before any work begins.

Protect yourself

How to spot dodgy locksmith pricing

01
Suspiciously low callout fee
A $15 or $19 callout in a sponsored ad is bait. The real bill arrives after the lock is drilled and is typically three to five times the advertised amount.
02
Refusing to quote on the phone
Any legitimate locksmith can give a starting price for a standard job over the phone and tell you what would make it higher. Refusing to is a strong sign the final number will be whatever they think they can charge.
03
Cash only or payment upfront
Reputable Brisbane locksmiths take card on completion. Requiring cash upfront or payment before work starts is rarely a good sign.

Frequently asked questions

Pricing questions answered

How much does a locksmith cost in Brisbane?+

It depends on the job. The callout is a flat $45 any hour of the day, and common jobs start at from $15 per cylinder to rekey, from $120 for a lock replacement, from $160 for a new lock installation and from $180 for a smart lock. Door opening for a lockout is from $80, so a lockout starts from $125 all-in, and that's the same at 2am, weekends and public holidays — no after-hours loading. You get an estimate on the phone, and the final price is confirmed with you on site before any work begins.

Do you charge a fee just for coming out?+

Yes. The $45 callout covers travel, dispatch and the technician's time on site. It is the same regardless of suburb within our service area, and it is not paid in advance — it is part of the total invoiced once the job is complete.

Will the price change once you arrive?+

No, unless something on site is materially different to what was described on the phone. If the lock type differs, the frame is damaged or extra work is needed, we explain the change and the new total before doing anything further. The original estimate stands until you agree to any change.

Do you charge more after hours, on weekends or public holidays?+

No. The $45 callout and every starting price on this page is the same any hour of the day, weekends and public holidays included.

What if I don't want to go ahead once you've quoted at the door?+

Then you only pay the $45 callout, nothing for the job. The technician quotes you before touching anything and you decide then. If you cancel before the technician arrives, you pay nothing at all.

Do you take card or only cash?+

Card and contactless are accepted on every job, taken on site after the work is completed. Bank transfer is available for account customers. We never require cash, and we never require payment before a job is done.

Are all prices GST inclusive?+

Yes. All prices on this page include GST. The receipt issued on completion shows the GST component, our ABN and our licence number.

How do I verify your licence?+

LockOps holds a current QLD Security Provider Licence (No. 4512789). You can verify it on the Queensland Government licence register. Public liability insurance and company registration documents are available on request.
